Solarlink Energy Orientation Camp – July 2024

The start of the second half of 2024 was filled with new beginnings for our company as we welcomed 3 new joiners into our fast-growing team. From 1-2 July, we held our first Orientation Camp at our HQ in Johor Bahru, with the new joiners from KL and JB getting a chance to meet and interact with the full Solarlink Energy and wider Linkbuild team.

Our KL team arrived in JB on Day 1 just in time for a combined lunch with the Linkbuild team, with some of the existing KL team finally being able to match the faces to names that they had only been seeing on emails and Microsoft Teams all this while. Given the amount of work they had already done together, albeit in different locations, conversations naturally flowed and we were undoubtedly the noisiest table in the restaurant.

Following lunch, the Solarlink Energy team were given a tour of the HQ. The highlight was undoubtedly the tour of our warehouse, which included a detailed explanation of all the various materials used for our solar PV system installations. Besides solar, the team also learnt about the various other work undertaken by the wider company, which included street lighting, solar lighting, EV chargers, traffic systems and other electrical infrastructure work.

The main part of the afternoon was hosted by Victor, our COO, who gave the team an in-depth introduction to the company, its values, mission and vision. Victor also shared about the history of the company and the various projects that we have been privileged to undertake so far. The team were also introduced to the various products and services we provide to our clients as well as our unique selling points and strengths.

The day ended with a team dinner at the popular Founders Café at Mount Austin, where our team enjoyed a smorgasbord of pizzas, cake and drinks whilst getting to know each other even better outside of a work setting.

The second day of our camp began with a presentation of Solar PV Fundamentals conducted by Kwong-Jen, our Chief Technical Officer. This presentation was hugely beneficial to both our technical and non-technical team as it provided a crucial foundation for everyone to better understand both WHAT and HOW we do what we do, all for the benefit of our clients.

After lunch, the team proceeded to one of our active sites in Johor Bahru, where our Director of Projects, Amirul, brought the team to see an actual solar PV installation in action. The team were given the opportunity to understand the intricacies of an installation first hand, watching our skilled installation team carrying out their mounting, cabling and termination work with aplomb.

That spelt the end of a fruitful and fun-filled Orientation Camp. As our KL team said goodbye and headed back up north, we reflected on all we had learnt and couldn’t help but bubble with excitement at what we knew was going to be a busy, yet fulfilling rest of the year to come!

Onwards and upwards, the best is yet to be!
